Hold On To Hope

I went out for dinner and drinks last night with two of my best girlfriends, some of the most sweet and most genuine people the world has ever met.

Laughing Talking and Struggling

We laughed and laughed and talked about boys and our problems and our relationships and our struggles with those boys, those problems, and those relationships. As we were talking, giving one another advice for each our of own situations, we began to talk about what we wanted, what we desired, and what we longed for in a relationship, and even simply in life in general. As we spoke of our dreams and our expectations, it dawned on me: Hold on to hope.

Life Throws Us Down

Each and every one of us has dreams and aspirations of where we want to be in life: Who we want to end up with, where we want to be, what we want to be doing, etc. etc. etc. But then, along the way, life throws us down and discouragement, frustration, and fear settle in. We begin questioning and second-guessing ourselves, asking ourselves those all-too-hurtful “what if” questions: What if I won’t find my ideal career? What if I don’t have a soulmate? What if I can’t live where I want to live? So we do this thing where we begin to settle.

We begin to put our own personal desires to the wayside to settle for what we currently have. And “settling” is a tough word to use hear as it seems to apply a negative connotation and I don’t mean to use it in a harmful way; maybe for some, they are happy with quote-unquote “settling” and that’s great! As long as you are happy at the end of the day, that’s all that matters! But if things aren’t going the way you have planned or the way you would like them to or if you begin compromising yourself for what is available now, let me present this to you: Hold on to hope.

Hold on to Hope

Hold on to hope. If you are going through a rough and tough time, hold on to hope, hope for another day, hope for another sunrise, hope for a better future, hope for your dreams and aspirations to come true, hope for what you want in life and what you want to give to the world during your life.

Stand firm on this hope and on this foundation of hope because it will bring you through the rough and tough times and will enable you to move on when moving on is most required. It will allow you to seek a brighter day when that is required of you as well. And most importantly, it will inspire you to follow yourself with your heart’s desires to help you find what you are looking for. (Just don’t forget to give back along the way).

It is this, hope, that will allow you to smile when smiling is the hardest. It is hope that will allow you to say “yes” when you want to say no. It is hope that will guide you to the sun, to the light, the light you are destined to find.

Hold on to it.
